Dec. 31, 2018
We are glad to present you the 35th record of our catalogue. “Selon le vent” is the first record from Pareidolia, a trio formed in 2014, with João Camões (viola), Gabriel Lemaire (saxophones and clarinets) and Yves Arques (piano). For one track, they invited Alvaro Rosso, an imaginative double-bass player living in Portugal. This disc was recorded during an artistic residence held in Salão Brazil (Coimbra) in 2016, promoted by Jazz ao Centro. From one 2017 Pareidolia’s concert, Portuguese critic Rui Eduardo Paes stated : (…) Transparent, tiny, with occasional explosions from Lemaire’s baritone saxophone and Rosso’s double bass, the music was a superb example of inter-listening and restraint, also marked by the beautiful solutions presented by the piano of Arques and Camões’ viola. The handling of extensive techniques, with generous use of instruments’ preparations, as well as an intimate reading of sound materials are at the core of their proposal.
